1996 Mazda mx5 convertible LOW mileage

Price: £15,500 15500 £

A remarkably low-mileage example of Mazda’s celebrated MX-5 roadster, benefiting from a very recent service.
Under the bonnet sits a 1. 6-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine, delivering around 88bhp to the rear wheels through a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox.
This UK-delivered MX-5 is in highly original, unmodified condition and features a colour-coded detachable hard top.
It has just two registered keepers from new, the most recent for 11 years who bought it from a family friend who was the first owner.

Riding on its original 14-inch six-spoke alloy wheels shod with Goodyear tyres, the car is finished in Brilliant Black over a black cloth interior.
Designed with an emphasis on lightness and delivering a pure driving experience, the car does without heavier electrical accessories such as electric windows, air conditioning and ABS.
The purposeful cabin includes controls for the pop-up headlights, a face-off Pioneer CD player, lockable transmission tunnel storage compartment, and manually operated convertible roof, which was designed to be opened and closed from inside the car.
The car is equipped with the optional power steering.
Included in the sale is the unused spare wheel, removable hardtop, V5C registration certificate, original owner’s manual, numerous maintenance invoices and historic MOT certificates, and three keys. There is also an excellent tonneau cover as well as mounting brackets for the hardtop.

There is no known bodywork damage.
The original paintwork presents very well indeed, with a few stone chips across the front end of the car and boot lid.
Both the soft top and removable hard top are in good order.
The original black cloth upholstery is in excellent condition, with no significant signs of wear.
The car has no known mechanical or electrical faults. All the switchgear functions correctly, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard.
The most recent MOT test was on 1 September 2021 at 17, 947 miles, when the car passed on its first attempt with advisories for two of the tyres. These have subsequently been replaced with matching Goodyear items.

The vehicle was last serviced in September 2021 at 17, 800 miles by Woodford Motor Company, who carried out an engine oil and filter change. It has been very well maintained. The cambelt was replaced in August 2004 at 11, 500 miles.
Accompanying the car are 23 MOT certificates from 1999 onwards, and 19 service invoices, including six from a Mazda main dealer.

No doubt inspired by the likes of the original Lotus Elan; the MX-5 was released in 1989 to widespread acclaim. The NA model was the first and purest of the iterations, and this remarkably well-preserved example is a delightful find. Original, unmodified, and well-maintained, it would make for a smart addition to any collection of modern classics. This entertaining sports car also deserves to be used as intended, and with its original hard top included, it can be readily enjoyed all year round should the next owner so desire.
Drives beautifully. Currently in dry storage and ready for next owner to have some fun a fantastic investment and better than money in the bank!
